Family Law & Mediation
At Machanik Attorneys, we understand the complex nature of personal relationships and the challenges posed when navigating difficult and deteriorating family matters.
Consultation to Advise on Family Matter
The first step in dealing with your family matter is to get to know you and the intricacies of the matter to ensure you know your options. During our consultation (usually one hour), we’ll discuss your family matter carefully to advise on what your next steps are including the process involved and your prospects of success.
Consultations are critical to understanding your issue and the results you hope to achieve. Documentation may also be vital for a further examination and understanding of all the facts in the matter and to formulate our advice.
The consultation is structured to promote a deeper understanding of your family matter. At the end of the consultation, you’ll know your legal rights, responsibilities, and our strategy to resolve and bring finality to the matter.
Preparation & Processing of Paperwork
We consult and advise on:
- Ante-Nuptial Contracts (ANC) and available marital systems
- Co-habitation arrangements and parenting plans (care and contact arrangements)
- Divorce agreements
- Inclusions and exclusions in accrual calculations
- Asset and liability schedules
- Spousal maintenance
- Maintenance for children
- Family Advocate’s requirements
Divorce or Termination of Partnership
The ending of a relationship is never easy. Hurt feelings and disappointment negatively impact the process. We advise on your rights when a relationship ends, including maintenance and property rights and your obligations to your spouse/partner/children in the event of divorce or termination of a partnership.
Children are often the real victims in any parental relationship ending. We can assist with achieving a sustainable maintenance or parenting plan (care and contact arrangements) with the necessary endorsements from the Family Advocate (where applicable).
Mediation
Mediation is a preferred way of dealing with tension-filled family matters. It’s why we work closely with all parties involved to reach a voluntary, sustainable and workable resolution.
Mediation allows both parties the opportunity to express their grievances and explore how best to resolve the outstanding disputes between them. During the mediation process, our role as mediator is to explore the interests underlying each parties’ position and identify where the parties can reach an agreement to finalise termination of the relationship. Rather than imposing a solution, we work with the parties to reach an agreement together.

Grays Matter Films consulted Keren on a variety of challenging business issues, ranging from navigating rogue accountants and advising on our Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with corporate giants. Throughout each complex case, I felt completely supported, understood, and thoroughly counselled. Keren understood small business financial limitations, and we worked within a budget, which is rare and kind.
We engaged with Machanik Attorneys regarding a highly complicated and confidential internal staff matter. Keren was always level-headed, meticulous, and a pleasure to deal with. We would highly recommend their legal services.
I hired Keren as my divorce lawyer because she was the only lawyer (and I interviewed several) who offered a holistic, individual approach. Through careful and thoughtful engagement with me, she tailored my divorce process to meet my specific circumstances, both on a personal and legal level. Throughout the divorce process, Keren provided the perfect mix of legal advice and support, and her strong, confident presence in the process was a godsend.
Machanik Attorneys assisted us with our antenuptial agreement. We were advised with great professionalism and efficiency, and the whole process from start to finish was a streamlined process. I shall definitely engage Machanik Attorneys' services again and certainly recommend them – without hesitation!
